At the IG Farben building
in Frankfurt, the place where the Germans
managed the manufacture of
Zyklon B and mustard gas—
now the home of Goethe University—
groups of students tell us
they’re eager to hear our stories
about growing up with families
who survived the Holocaust.
Their chatter thunders through
the cavernous Art Deco hall.

Outside, the air is cold and crisp.
A flock of black ravens circles.
