Five Love Poems

WORK

I always write
my love letters/white pumas
that jump on my shoulders
and bite my cheek

GREEN TONGUE

When I meet the man I love
I am speechless
Unripe apples adhere to the green branches
They make smart-ass comments when people try to pick them.
Loose & ripe, they fall/maybe you hear a thud
when they hit the ground.

LOVE POEM

My stripes
make me
a tiger. Definitions
are not always
so easy.

TELEGRAM

Your hand
was a lie.

LOVE NOTE

The white flesh
of an apple
falls out of my heart
untouched by
                     pumping blood
